In partnership with the cap agency, the SMSC will host a food distribution for the public to pick up food – drive thru style.
Food is sourced from second harvest heartland to help divert food from being thrown away.
Volunteers will help sort and bag food from 10 am – 3 pm.
The distribution (when the public can start coming thru the line) will be from 3pm – 6 pm or until gone, whichever happens first.
Shifts
10am – 12pm | 20 shifts |
12pm – 2pm | 20 shifts |
2pm – 4pm | 20 shifts |
4pm – 6pm | 20 shifts |
The last shift may end early and will help clean up.
Transportation/Parking
- Volunteers can take the shuttle or park in the parking lot east of Playworks / west of the meadows maintenance building (between both areas).
- This is a better location if you are not staying the whole day.
Event Expectations
- Volunteers will be sorting and bagging food items.
- Volunteers will help distribution from 3-6pm to the public drive thru.
- Standing throughout entire event.
- Event is outdoors.
- Volunteers on the last shift will help clean up.
Safety
- Gloves will be provided
- Box cutters are utilized. These are sharp. Do not leave them laying around or set down while razer exposed. If broken, turn into a captain.
- Closed toed shoes!!
Food & Beverage
- Food, snacks, and water will be provided.
- Please let us know if you have any food restrictions.
Attire
- Red #smscgives volunteer shirt.
- Comfortable, close toed shoes.
- Wear clothing you are ok getting dirty and sweaty in.

Attire:
- All participants should wear their #SMSCgives red T-shirt and comfortable shoes.
- #SMSCgives T-shirts are available at the security station at the team member entrance of Mystic Lake Casino Hotel.
