On a warm mid-June afternoon, the SMSC and the CAP Agency played host to a traveling farmers market, where pallets of potatoes, onions, apples, and other donated produce filled the parking lot at Playworks. Dozens of cars were lined up, ready to accept a box of fresh-grown fruits and veggies to help keep their cupboards stocked during this unprecedented time—a total of 2,052 people received produce! To date, almost 50 free drive-up farmers markets across the region have enabled hundreds of thousands of pounds of fresh produce to be distributed to people in need.
